RISHIKESH, UTTARAKHAND — Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed pride and happiness while addressing a समारोह at the AIIMS Rishikesh, where hundreds of students were awarded degrees and academic honours.
Speaking at the event, Dhami said he felt “ecstatic” to witness a significant milestone in the lives of students, as around 386 students were conferred with their degrees. Along with this, meritorious students were recognised for their outstanding performance and awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals.
The Chief Minister congratulated the students and their families, saying that their hard work and dedication had led them to this important achievement. He emphasised that such occasions not only mark academic success but also signal the beginning of a new journey of service and responsibility in society.
Dhami highlighted the importance of institutions like AIIMS Rishikesh, which he described as a “Swasthya Mandir” (Temple of Health). He explained that the institute is not just a place for medical treatment but also a centre of compassion, service, empathy, and harmony.
According to him, healthcare is not only about curing diseases but also about caring for patients with sensitivity and understanding. He said that doctors and medical professionals must combine technical knowledge with human values to provide the best possible care.
The Chief Minister also praised the institution for its rapid development and growing capabilities in advanced medical sciences. He noted that AIIMS Rishikesh is now equipped with modern technologies and specialised departments, including cancer treatment and neurosurgery, which enable it to handle complex medical cases.
He said that the availability of such advanced facilities in Uttarakhand has significantly improved healthcare access for people in the region. Earlier, patients often had to travel to other states for specialised treatment, but now many services are available within the state itself.
Dhami also emphasised the role of AIIMS Rishikesh in medical education and research, stating that the institute is contributing to the development of skilled healthcare professionals. He said that students graduating from such institutions are well-prepared to serve society and address future healthcare challenges.
He encouraged the graduating students to dedicate themselves to serving humanity, reminding them that the medical profession carries great responsibility. He said that doctors have the power to save lives and bring hope to patients and their families, making their role extremely important in society.
The Chief Minister further stated that the government is committed to strengthening healthcare infrastructure across Uttarakhand, with a focus on improving access, quality, and affordability. He said that institutions like AIIMS Rishikesh play a key role in achieving these goals.
He also highlighted that the integration of modern technology with compassionate care is essential for building a strong healthcare system. By combining advanced medical practices with human values, institutions can deliver better outcomes for patients.
Observers note that AIIMS Rishikesh has emerged as a major healthcare and educational hub in the region, attracting patients and students from across the country. Its growth reflects the broader expansion of healthcare infrastructure in India.
Dhami concluded by congratulating the students once again and expressing confidence that they would make meaningful contributions to society through their knowledge and skills. He also praised the faculty and staff of the institute for their dedication to education and patient care.
The event highlighted the dual role of AIIMS Rishikesh as a centre for both advanced medical treatment and quality education, with the Chief Minister emphasising the importance of compassion, service, and excellence in healthcare.
