Hundreds of pilgrims, adorned in colorful raincoats and ponchos, continue to trek the 16-kilometer route from Gaurikund to the Kedarnath temple. The administration has confirmed that the yatra is “progressing at a steady pace,” with security personnel and sector magistrates stationed at various intervals to ensure the safety of the travelers.
The local administration has been working around the clock to manage the influx of pilgrims. With daily footfall often reaching between 25,000 and 30,000 during this peak month of May, the focus has shifted toward crowd management and ensuring that basic amenities like medical aid, drinking water, and shelter are readily available along the trekking path.

Aviation experts note that flying in the narrow Himalayan valleys requires high visibility. Even a slight increase in moisture or a sudden drop in temperature can lead to dense cloud cover, forcing operators to ground their fleets for hours or even days at a time.
