DEHRADUN, UTTARAKHAND — Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Mahila Janakrosh Rally held at Parade Ground in Dehradun, organised to express strong reactions over the non-passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament.
The rally saw the participation of a large number of women, party workers, and supporters, who gathered to voice their concerns regarding the delay in implementing reservation for women in legislative bodies. The event reflected growing political and public attention on the issue of women’s representation and rights.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dhami emphasised that women form a significant and vital part of the country’s population, and ensuring their adequate representation in governance is essential for inclusive development. He said that the Women’s Reservation Bill is not just a political issue but a matter of justice and equality.
The rally, termed as a “Janakrosh” (public anger) rally, was organised to highlight the dissatisfaction among sections of society regarding the bill not being passed. Participants expressed their views through slogans and speeches, calling for stronger efforts to ensure that women receive their rightful place in politics.
Dhami stated that the delay in implementing the bill has disappointed many people, especially women who have been waiting for greater participation in decision-making bodies. He said that such measures are necessary to strengthen democracy and ensure balanced representation.

The Chief Minister also highlighted that the government is committed to supporting women’s empowerment across various sectors, including education, healthcare, employment, and political participation. He said that multiple initiatives are being taken to improve the status and opportunities available to women.
During the rally, speakers stressed that women’s reservation has been a long-pending demand, and there is a need for collective efforts to ensure its implementation. They called upon all political parties to come together on the issue, setting aside differences for the greater good.
