Dehradun, Uttarakhand – In a heartening display of leadership and academic celebration, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami personally reached out to the state’s top-performing students following the declaration of the Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE) results for 2026. The Chief Minister held telephonic conversations with several toppers, including Akshat Gopal, Ishant Kothari, and Bhoomika, to laud their exceptional achievements and encourage their future endeavors.
The 2026 academic cycle has proven to be a landmark year for the state, with pass percentages reaching historic highs and students from rural districts showcasing extraordinary resilience and talent.
A Personal Touch: CM Dhami’s Call to the Future
The results, declared on April 25, 2026, were met with an immediate response from the state government. Chief Minister Dhami, known for his focus on youth empowerment and education, took time out of his schedule to speak with the students who secured the highest rungs on the merit list.
During the calls, the Chief Minister congratulated the students on their “unwavering dedication and hard work.” He also extended his gratitude to the parents and teachers, recognizing the support systems that allow these young scholars to thrive.
High School Results: Breaking the 90% Barrier
The Class 10 (High School) results have been particularly impressive this year. According to J.P. Kala, Deputy Director of the Uttarakhand Education Department, the overall pass percentage for High School has soared to 92.1%. This marks one of the strongest performances in the board’s history.
A significant highlight of this year’s statistics is the number of students passing with high honors. Over 7,235 students achieved “Distinction” status, a clear indicator that the quality of education and the depth of student preparation have seen a substantial boost.
The Class 10 Merit Standouts:
- Akshat Gopal: Secured the top position in the state with a near-perfect score, representing the academic excellence burgeoning in the Ramnagar region.
- Ishant Kothari & Bhoomika: Shared the second spot, showcasing the fierce but healthy competition among the state’s top scholars.
The data also confirms a continuing trend: girls have once again outperformed boys in the High School examinations, maintaining a significant lead in both the pass rate and the number of students in the top 10% bracket.
Improving Standards and Digital Evaluation
The early and accurate declaration of results on April 25 is being credited to the Board’s shift toward a more modernized, tech-heavy evaluation system. Under the guidance of the Education Department, the UBSE implemented a digital marks-uploading protocol that bypassed the delays of traditional manual entry.
“This year, the examination results were not just good in terms of numbers, but also in terms of the fairness and transparency of the process,” said J.P. Kala. The department focused on ensuring that evaluation centers were strictly monitored, and “double-blind” checking was utilized for high-scoring papers to maintain the highest standards of integrity.
The Road Ahead: Career Counseling and Higher Education
With the High School results out, the focus now shifts to the next phase of the students’ academic journeys. The state government has announced plans to hold Career Counseling Fair (Margdarshan) sessions across all 13 districts. These sessions are designed to help students choose the right stream—be it Science, Commerce, or Humanities—based on their aptitude and the shifting demands of the 2026 job market.
For students who did not meet the passing criteria, the Chief Minister offered a message of hope. “Failure is but a stepping stone. The board will be conducting compartment and improvement exams shortly. I urge students not to lose heart and to prepare with renewed vigor,” he added.
Bageshwar and Beyond: Regional Excellence
Once again, Bageshwar has emerged as the leading district in terms of overall pass percentage, proving that regional schools are providing top-tier education. The success of students from hilly and remote terrains continues to be an inspiration, highlighting the state’s success in bridging the urban-rural educational divide.
As the state of Uttarakhand celebrates its young achievers, the focus remains on sustaining this momentum. With the Chief Minister’s direct involvement and the Education Department’s push for modernization, the future of Uttarakhand’s education system looks more promising than ever.
